McTominay has extended his contract with Manchester United with a new deal that is expected to run until June 2023.

The Scottish midfielder graduated from the club’s academy and made his first senior debut under former manager Jose Mourinho and went on to make 13 league appearances for the Red Devils last season.

McTominay’s previous contract with Manchester United was expected to expire in 2021.

The 22-year-old midfielder has played seven times in this season’s Premier League and featured four times in the Red Devils’ Champions League campaign this term.

The development reveals the trust that the Old Trafford outfit and caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have for the youngster, and the manager disclosed it in the announcement of the new deal.

“Scott has been with the club from a very young age,” said Solskjaer on Monday.

“He has progressed through our academy ranks and has made fantastic progress in the last couple of years.”

“Scott is a young midfielder and is constantly improving. He's an intelligent player and wants to learn all the time.”

“I am delighted he has signed a new contract and there is no doubt that he has a bright future ahead of him.”

McTominay was all ecstatic after signing the dotted lines as he anticipated a successful era with the club which he described as his ‘life’.

“Manchester United has been my life since the age of five and playing for the club I've always supported is all I've ever wanted to do.”

“I'm still young and I'm learning all the time from the manager, his coaching staff and from the world-class players in the squad. I can't wait to continue my progress at this great club.”
