Makelele Insists Pogba Will Be Successful At Real Madrid

Former Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele is confident Paul Pogba will be successful at Real Madrid if the latter secures a move to the Spanish capital.

With Manchester United enduring a torrid season last term, Paul Pogba has been linked with a move away from the club as Real Madrid and Juventus are said to be interested in the player.

Despite the terrible season suffered by United, Paul Pobga emerged as the club’s highest goal scorer and also the highest assists provider with 25 goals and 9 assists for the Red Devils.

The French World Cup winner who joined the side from Juventus in 2016 believes it is time for him to seek a new challenge after spending three years at "the Theatre of Dreams".

And Makelele, who won two league titles in a three-year spell with Los Blancos, is optimistic his fellow countryman will function well in the Real Madrid squad as he thinks his qualities add him among the best footballers admired by coach Zinedine Zidane.

"Of course. Zidane values these types of players. He knows how to do everything and that is difficult. His potential is impressive, but it will be difficult for Manchester United to let him leave because he is a symbol.

"For sure. He has character, personality, game... many things. And that's always good for a team like Real Madrid."

Ending his fair view on the potential future of Pogba to Real Madrid, Makelele hailed the club’s president Florentino Perez about his good works done for both club and country.

"Florentino can get what he wants. He has achieved many things for the club, for the country and for world football. He is a key person in the history of Real Madrid."
