Kyle Walker Commits Future To Manchester City
By Joshua Walters
Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has extended his stay at the Etihad stadium with a new two-year contract.
The new deal signed by the English fullback is expected to expire in 2024.
Walker joined Manchester City from Tottenham Hotspurs in 2017 for a reported fee of £50million having signed a three-year contract.
Since arriving at the club, Walker has won two Premier League titles, two EFL Cups and one FA Cup trophy under Spanish trainer Pep Guardiola.
Having earned his 100th appearance for the Citizens in the last season’s FA Cup final against Watford, the 29-year-old defender has prolonged his initial contract which was expected to expire in 2021/22 season with a new two-year deal.
After signing the dotted lines Walker expressed his delight to have signed a new deal with the Premier League champions.
"I'm thrilled to have signed a new deal," he said. "Playing for City has been everything I'd hoped it would be and more.
"It was an easy decision. I want to be competing for trophies, playing at the highest level, and I feel I have improved hugely as a player during my time here.
"The club's vision – both on and of the pitch – matches mine perfectly and I’m looking forward to spending the next five years here, hopefully winning more silverware."
Walker made thirty-three Premier League appearances in the 2018/19 season scoring just a goal with one assist.
