Karius commits costly error in Besiktas debut
By Danny Ward
Loris Karius left Liverpool after committing series of costly errors in the post, and the old ghost came haunting on Sunday when the goalkeeper committed another costly blunder in his debut for new club Besiktas.
The German international goalkeeper earned his Besiktas debut as Ryan Babel put the Istanbul-based club ahead at Bursaspor in the 51st minute.
Karius, who joined Besiktas from Liverpool this summer on a season-long loan, pulled a good save to deny midfielder Allano from scoring in a one-on-one situation during the game.
But, the costly errors that caused Karius to leave England and change environment manifested itself again when the goalkeeper committed an error that led the visitors to draw parity late in the game.
Yusuf Erdogan crossed into the Besiktas six-yard-box, and Karius misread the situation and mistimed his movement as he stepped out of the line, but not directly to the ball to allow Diafra Sakho to tap into an empty post.
Loris Karius’ left Liverpool in search of a better fate, but it appears the goalkeeper has a lot to do as he did not just fail to record a clean sheet in his debut, but conceded a goal that could be blamed on him.
