Ince: Solskjaer Doing Nothing Special

Ince: Solskjaer Doing Nothing Special

By Nigel Philips

Former Manchester United midfielder,Paul Ince, says there is nothing extraordinary in manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s run at the club and insists he cannot see the caretaker manager getting the job full time.

Ince acknowledges that the former Norwegian international has improved the Red Devils in both performance and results, but maintains that is not enough to guarantee that he is the right man for the job.

Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho in December after the latter had led Manchester United to their poorest run in Premier League history.

The former Manchester United forward, on loan from Norwegian side Molde, has won all six games played so far, making him the pick of many football pundits.

But, Ince is not getting carried away with the Solskjaer hysteria and believes the Norwegian hasn't achieved anything worthy of getting the job full time just yet.

"We can't get too sucked in with what Ole's done," Ince told Paddy Power News.

"Let's be honest, it couldn't get any worse at Manchester United before Jose Mourinho left. There was a dark cloud over the entire club, the players, the fans and the staff. It was impacting performances on the pitch.

"Ole's come in, a friendly face at the club with a calming influence and it seems as though the players have upped their effort as a result.

"The shackles are off, but that doesn't mean that Ole is the right man for the job. I could have gone in and done the same thing, so could Steve Bruce.

"Anyone could have gone in and done what he has done, it wasn't a hard thing to do to give those players freedom and improve the mood."
