David Wagner Departs As Manager Of Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield Town have parted company with manager David Wagner with the club bottom of the Premier League table.

Huddersfield Town’s record of just two wins from 22 Premier League games is the least in the English top flight, whiles their 15 losses is the most in the division.

David Wagner was appointed as manager of the Terriers in November 2015 and guided Huddersfield Town to their first ever campaign in the English Premier League in the 2017/2018 season, finishing in a respectable 16th position as he managed to help them avoid relegation, despite being candidates for the drop.

Wagner,46, won the Premier League manager of the month in August 2017 and was also awarded Championship Manager of the Year in the 2016/2017 season.

Huddersfield Town chairman Dean Hoyle reiterated that Wagner was not sacked but rather, the German left his role after discussions with the club.

"I'd like to begin by thanking David for all he has achieved at Huddersfield Town over the last three and a half years," Hoyle said.

"Under his stewardship, we've achieved things on the football pitch that surpass anything in modern memory, and that have gone well beyond my wildest expectations as chairman and as a fan.

"Under David's management, we took this club to the highest position it has held in almost 50 years and created memories that will last forever.

"As I had said previously, I had no intention of sacking David this season. Subsequently David – being the great man he is – came to us and made it clear that he needs a break from the rigours of football management.

"I cannot thank David enough for what he has achieved. Along with his family, he will always be a friend to me and Huddersfield Town."

Next up for Huddersfield Town is champions Manchester City in a Premier League game at the John Smith’s stadium on Sunday.
