Hazard Sends Liverpool Packing From Carabao Cup

Eden Hazard and Chelsea have sent Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to a third-round exit from the Carabao Cup with a late strike in a 2-1 win at Anfield on Wednesday.
Chances were far in-between in the first forty-five minutes as Liverpool and Chelsea played out a barren first half on a tense night at Anfield.
The two sides have a Premier League meeting at the Stamford Bridge on Saturday, but that did not affect the quality of the teams paraded at both ends despite Klopp and Sarri tickling with their squads by introducing a few fresh legs.
Both teams had gone into the game with impressive runs in the Premier League, and Liverpool broke the virginity of the game in the 58th minute when Daniel Sturridge left footed shot from the centre of the box hit the back of the net from the centre of the goal.
Chelsea leveled up in the 79th minute with Emerson Pereira right footing a shot from close range to the centre of the goal following a set piece situation.
Eden Hazard doubled up the lead six minutes later when he pounced on César Azpilicueta’s pass to right foot a shot from the right side of the box to the bottom left corner.
