Hazard Explains Why He Voted Aguero As PFA Player Of The Year

Eden Hazard has revealed that Sergio Aguero’s consistency is the reason why he voted the Manchester City striker as his Professional Footballers Association (PFA) Player of the Year.
Hazard and Aguero appeared on a six-man shortlist for the award that included Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling, Sadio Mane and Virgil Van Dijk.
Van Dijk ultimately scooped the award but Hazard believes even though Aguero lost out, his consistency over the past eight seasons won his vote.
"I voted for Sergio Aguero – not because he scored a hat-trick against us! He has been playing in the Premier League for eight years now and in that time he is the guy who is always consistent, Hazard said of the Argentine.
"Sometimes he’s injured, but when he’s on the pitch, he always scores goals. Sadio Mane was good, for example, but a lot of players deserved to win…even me!"
Aguero, who was the only player to retain his place in the PFA team of the year this season, has scored 20 Premier League goals or more in each of the last five seasons; a record he holds with former Arsenal striker, Thierry Henry.
The Argentine, who is Manchester City’s all-time leading goalscorer, is in contention to win this season’s Premier League golden boot as well, trailing current holder and leader, Mohamed Salah, with just two goals going into the final week of the season.
Manchester City recruited Aguero from Spanish giants Atletico Madrid in 2011 having signed a five-year contract for a fee reported to be in the region of £35 million.
