Liverpool opened up a six-point gap at the top of the Premier League table as Manchester City dropped 3 points at Leicester for Tottenham to move above them into second place on Saturday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first home game in charge of Manchester United ended in a comfortable 3-1 victory over Huddersfield.

United took the lead in the 28th minute when Lindelof's header from a Marcus Rashford corner was blocked on the line but Nemanja Matic was on hand to turn in from close range.

Good work by Spanish duo Herrera and Mata allowed Pogba to sweep the ball in for United's second.

Pogba hit a fantastic effort from 25 yards, leaving goalkeeper Jonas Lossl no chance for United's third in the 78th minute.

Mathias Jorgensen ensured United didn't keep a clean sheet when he pulled one back for Huddersfield with two minutes to go.

At Anfield, Lovren against all odds smashed Liverpool into the lead with only 11 minutes on the clock.

Salah scored Liverpool's second three minutes after the break when he picked himself up to bury the ball confidently in the bottom corner after he was fouled for a penalty.

Liverpool's fluid attacking display produced another goal, this time for Xherdan Shaqiri for Liverpool's third in the 79th minute.

There was time for summer signing Fabinho to score a fourth for Liverpool five minutes to the end when he headed in a corner from about two yards out.

At the King Power Stadium, Bernardo Silva's early goal for Man City was not enough for the visitors to take away the needed three points.

Marc Albrighton cancelled out the Portuguese's opener before Ricardo struck an absolute beauty for the foxes with a goal that was cheered all the way to  Anfield as Liverpool capitalised on City's slip up to move seven points clear of the Citizens.

At Wembley, Tottenham Hotspurs put five unanswered goals past a helpless Bournemouth side to move above Manchester City into second place.
