Emery Charges Aubameyang To Fight For Top Scorer Award

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has urged striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to challenge for the 2018/19 Premier League top scorer award.

The Gabonese marksman, who joined Arsenal last season for a record fee from Dortmund, struck twice as the Gunners swept away crosstown rivals, Tottenham Hotpurs, by 4-2 in the North London Derby last Sunday.

Emery and his lads trek to Old Trafford on Wednesday to face Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United who are experiencing a wobbling season.

The Spaniard trainer has challenged his leading striker to replicate his fine scoring form against Spurs in the United game as he tells him 'not to stop scoring.'

"I want him to continue improving, and his challenge is also collective and individual," Emery said.

"I want his challenge to be that he has the opportunity to be the best scorer in the Premier League.”

"We want to help him achieve this and that is because, if he is scoring, he is helping us.”

Aubameyang leads the Premier League’s scorers chart with ten goals, followed by Manchester City pair, Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero, Spurs’ Harry Kane, Bournemouth’s Collum Wilson and Glenn Murray of Brighton and Hove Albion, who all have struck eight times this season.

"In the last two matches he has had a very big performance, working and scoring.”

“I want to say to him, 'Don't stop, continue with this commitment every match.”

"It is also important that he takes confidence from matches like Tottenham.”

“Now is the moment to say to him, 'Don't stop'."
