Crouch Makes Premier League Comeback With Burnley Move

Peter Crouch is set for a fairytale comeback to the English Premier League after the former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspurs striker joined Burnley from Championship side, Stoke City, on transfer deadline day.

The 38-year-old former England international's move to the Clarets will last until the end of the season in a deal that also sees Wales international, Sam Vokes, head to the other direction.

Crouch, who suffered relegation with Stoke City last season, is a veteran of the Premier League and has turned out for clubs in the top flight including Aston Villa, Portsmouth and Southampton.

Burnley will be the seventh Premier League club Crouch has played for, having made his debut in the competition as far back as March 2002 for Aston Villa.

"He has a hunger to come and make a mark," Burnley boss Sean Dyche said ahead of the striker's move.

"We know he's a good character and he still has a desire. "The main thing for me is having motivated people."

"Peter is a character who will fit in well here, with the club and the fans. He still has something to offer, and has scored goals everywhere.

"He's effective and has done that at every level, domestically and internationally. There's an all-around package in there."

Peter Crouch has made a total of 462 Premier League appearances and has scored 108 goals, with 53 of those being headers, which is the most in the history of the competition.
