Busquets Happy To Play With Messi
By Joshua Walters
Sergio Busquets has heaped praises on 'unique' Lionel Messi as he exhorts the qualities of the Barcelona captain.
The Argentine football legend scored another classic on Saturday by picking on a stray pass inside the penalty area to hit it beyond the helpless Jan Oblak with three opponent players closing in on him as Barcelona beat Atletico Madrid 2-0 in the LaLiga.
The goal has reignited positive reviews across the football circus, but Busquets insists it is not anything new as Messi has been producing such breathtaking moments all the time.
"We have the good fortune to train with him every day. 'I've spent the last 11 years with him, so you get that greater concentration of him doing these things.
"We're not quite as surprised by it all. There isn't a goal he's scored on the pitch that we haven't seen in training and he's also repeating goals he has scored in previous seasons. He is unique."
Messi, without the idea of his teammates, announced in front of a packed Camp Nou that the Champions League trophy was the club’s main priority this season.
"We didn't know he was going to say that," confirmed Busquets when asked if the rest of the squad knew about the announcement and its content. "But all clubs want to do well in the Champions League don't they? It's the most prestigious trophy there is and it is even more important for us after having not won it for so many years."
The Argentina national team Captain has played 29 LaLiga games this season, scoring 33 goals and assisting in twelve of them.
Messi has also featured in six Champions League matches for the Catalans, and has eight goals to his name aside his two goals in the Copa del Rey, making it a total of 43 goals in all competition for the LaLiga table-toppers.
Barcelona's quest for European glory will be tested at Old Trafford on Wednesday in the quarter-final first-leg game against Manchester United.
