Breaking: Allegri To Leave Juventus At The End Of The Season
By Joshua Walters
Juventus have officially confirmed that Massimiliano Allegri will not be their head coach next season.
The Italian outfit with a statement on their official website disclosed a press conference comprising the club president, Andrea Agnelli and Allegri will be held on 18 May to address the announcement.
"Massimiliano Allegri will not sit on the Juventus bench in the 2019/2020 season.
"The coach and the president, Andrea Agnelli, will meet the media together at the press conference, which will be held tomorrow, Saturday 18 May, at 2 pm in the conference hall of the Allianz Stadium."
After five Serie A titles in as many seasons, Allegri will leave his post following the final game of 2018-19 with Sampdoria next Sunday.
Allegri joined the side in 2014 after a four-year spell with AC Milan and guided Juventus to five continuous Serie A titles, securing the league and cup double in his first four seasons.
The Italian club achieved two Champions League finals in 2015 and 2017, losing to Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively.
Despite dominating the country's domestic scene, the Italian trainer leaves having failed to bring Champions League glory to the club as they suffered a shocking defeat by Ajax in the quarter-final.
With no reasons given for Allegri’s departure, reports in Italy have claimed this week that he has clashed with Juve's sporting director Fabio Paratici and vice-chairman Pavel Nedved.
The announcement has linked Tottenham Hotspurs manager Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte as one of the favourites to led the Serie A champions next season, but Andrea Agnelli reportedly wants Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi to take charge.
