Arsene Wenger: Social Media Could Soon Influence Substitutions

Former Arsenal Manager, Arsene Wenger, believes the power of social media could soon influence key decisions in football such as substitutions.
Wenger, 69, made the startling revelation when he spoke to beIN Sports over the adverse impact of the technological tool on football.
Social media has become a major component of the game in these modern times with many clubs utilising it to keep fans updated while offering them the chance to express their views just by the click of their handheld gadgets.
“I’ve said many times that you could imagine the next chairman who says that the social networks can make a change in the second half", said the Frenchman who endured a lot of criticisms from a section of Arsenal fans during the latter part of his 22-year stay with the Gunners.
That will become more and more entrenched. It will happen. I personally would not accept it. I’m from the old school in that respect. But we’re going in that direction.”
“If you imagine the power of social networks. What is even worse, it’s not the majority, the minority is the most extreme, it’s a bit like the problem with democracy, it’s a dictatorship of the minorities.”
