Sadio Mane Commits Future To Liverpool

Sadio Mane committed his long-term future to Liverpool on Friday, signing a new contract until 2023 to hand the improved Premier League side an added boost.

The new deal, which reportedly increases the striker's weekly wage to about £150,000, comes as a reward for the Senegalese who was very instrumental in Liverpool's impressive run last season.

Mane scored ten Premier League goals as the Reds finished a record 4th on the log, and scored in the knockout stage of the Champions League and also in the final match which the side lost 3-1 to Real Madrid.

Mane's form made him one of the most sought-after players in Europe, but the player delayed Liverpool's move to tie him down with an improved deal with the reason he was not interested in leaving the club.

"It is a great day for me and now I am looking forward to everything – to helping the team, to helping the club achieve our dreams and, especially, to win trophies", Mane said after signing the new contract.

Mane was close to joining Manchester United from Southampton in 2016 but changed direction to Liverpool where he signed a five-year deal for a transfer fee of £34 million.

"I've always said, when I knew I had a chance to come here, I didn't have to think twice. The right club in the right moment and with the right coach as well. I came here and was very happy. For me, I have made the best decision in my career."

The transfer fee made him the most expensive African player in history, at the time.
