‘They Don’t Have Much To Celebrate’- Mourinho Shades Arsenal For Mocking Spurs Defeat To Sheffield

Jose Mourinho has rekindled his war of words with Arsenal after the Gunners appeared to mock Tottenham Hotspurs’ defeat to Sheffield United in the Premier League last week.

‘They Don’t Have Much To Celebrate’- Mourinho Shades Arsenal For Mocking Spurs Defeat To Sheffield

Arsenal recently eliminated Sheffield United in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup and posted highlights of the game on Facebook after Tottenham lost to the same opposition 3-1, captioning it: “It’s not easy beating Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.”

Mourinho’s animosity towards Arsenal dates back to the Arsene Wenger era, as the pair clashed on several occasions when the Portuguese was in charge of Chelsea.

Mourinho was made aware of Arsenal’s post on social media ahead of Tottenham’s game with Everton on Monday, and the former Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Manchester United manager did not hold back in his reply.

"I think if they were top of the league or fighting for top four in a really good moment they wouldn’t enjoy the problems of others. You only enjoy the problems of others when you are also in trouble,” Mourinho said.

"In the end it says more about them. They don’t have much to celebrate, they have to get every opportunity to do it. They are in a very similar situation to us in the table.

"I don’t like to connect the club with some post or tweet. Maybe I am wrong, maybe I am right, but the person that did it probably did it by themselves. I don’t believe it was [Mikel] Arteta that posted, I don’t believe it was [Granit] Xhaka or another captain that did it.

"It was probably some guy that was at home for three months working from home. No problem at home, but we will be waiting for them.”

Tottenham have finished above Arsenal in the last three seasons but both teams have had underwhelming campaigns in 2019/2020.
