Ten Hag Takes The Blame As Man Utd's Champions League Hopes Filter Away With Galatasaray Draw

The Red Devils looked on course for a vital win in a hostile atmosphere when goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes put them in a healthy position inside the opening 20 minutes.

But the hosts clawed their way back into the game when Hakim Ziyech's free kick halved the deficit, with goalkeeper Andre Onana at fault.

Scott McTominay restored United's two-goal cushion after the break but Ziyech struck again from another free kick, with Onana at fault again before substitute Kerem Akturkoglu drilled in the equaliser 20 minutes from time.

United remain bottom of the group with their destiny out of their hands ahead of facing Bayern Munich in their final group fixture.

Even a win against the German champions might not be enough to seal progression from the group for Manchester United.

Asked who was to blame, Ten Hag told TNT Sports: "It's always me."

"I am responsible for this."

"We know we are in a project. We are making improvements, so that's very hopeful.

"We are going in the right direction so I know we will be successful in the long-term, but if you want to stay in the Champions League you need to win these games.

"We were winning and then we're losing it. We should have taken three points, that's clear. We did this in other games. I was pleased with how we played but at the same time I have to criticise the team because the defending is not good enough.

"We are leading 3-1 and we cannot afford mistakes as it makes a difference."
