Nick Pope Adds To Newcastle's Injury Woes With Shoulder Dislocation
Newcastle United goalkeeper Nick Pope is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after suffering a dislocated shoulder injury.
Pope picked up the injury late on in Newcastle's 1-0 win over Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday.
The 31-year-old England international has been a mainstay in the Newcastle team since signing from Burnley last summer.
But he is set to miss out on Newcastle's upcoming matches, leaving manager Eddie Howe to choose between Martin Dubravka, who replaced him on Saturday, and Loris Karius.
Newcastle have a mounting injury list that includes the likes of Callum Wilson, Harvey Barnes, Joe Willock, Sven Botman, Dan Burn, Jacob Murphy, Elliot Anderson, Matt Targett and Sean Longstaff.
Speaking to TNT Sport about the injury, Howe was concerned, saying: "I don't know if he will need an operation or not, but we will get it checked out and fingers crossed he will be back soon.
"It will be a massive blow for us if he is ruled out for any length of time. It looked really innocuous, but that is usually the way and they are normally the more serious ones. You could see he was in distress and it looked like he dislocated his shoulder just diving."
