Mbappe Not Obsessed With Winning Ballon D’Or
Kylian Mbappe says he is not obsessed with winning the Ballon d’or as he is more interested in achieving collective success with Paris Saint Germain and the French national team.
Mbappe has already achieved enormous success with clubs and country in his fledgling career as he has won the French Ligue 1 title once with AS Monaco and three times with PSG.
The 21-year-old became a world champion with France as a teenager, winning the best young player at FIFA’s flagship tournament in Russia two years ago.
Mbappe has won the top scorer in the French Ligue 1 for the past two seasons but he has now set his sights on helping PSG win their first Champions League title and a second major honour with Les Bleus at next year’s rescheduled EURO 2020.
"To keep on being successful with the national team – next season we have the European Championship and that will be our ambition to be victorious there," Mbappe told the Mirror when asked about his next big ambitions.
"It is a big ambition of mine to win the European Cup and to be a part of PSG winning their first European Cup would be very special."
Mbappe has been tipped to take over Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s stronghold on the Ballon d’or but he says winning football’s most prestigious individual honour is not something he loses sleep over.
“It would be nice to win – but it is not something that keeps me awake at night,” he added. “I don’t think I have to win it next season or the season after – there is no time limit I have put on it.
“Always I will put PSG and the national team as my priority. Then, if personal honours come from my performances then it is a bonus.”
