Leonardo Angry With Zidane For Mbappe Flirtations
Paris Saint Germain sporting director Leonardo has slammed Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane for flirting with Kylian Mbappe.
Zidane said earlier in the week that he knew Mbappe’s dream was to play for the 13-time European champions.
Mbappe has continued to blossom since joining the French champions initially on loan from AS Monaco in the summer of 2017.
The 20-year-old is seen by many as a future Ballon d’or winner, having finished fourth in last year’s awards and again being named on this year’s 30-man shortlist.
The world cup winner, who has a contract with the Parisians until the summer of 2022, raised questions about his long-term future in the French capital this summer by suggesting he was open to a move away from the club.
Paris Saint Germain defeated Club Brugge 1-0 on Wednesday to book their place in the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League, and after the game Leonardo had some strong words for Zidane for trying to lure away their prized asset.
"It annoys a little and it bothers. This is not the time to talk about this. He still has two and a half years of contract with us. It's time to stop all this," he told RMC Sport.
"He is very important for us. It is the best young player that France has. He is world champion and even the best player in the world.
"This is not the time to destabilise or touch him."
Mbappe has scored nine goals in eleven games for PSG so far this season.
