Klopp, Arteta Call For Simultaneous Closure Of Europe And Saudi Arabia Transfer Window

Clubs from Saudi Arabia have raided Europe for some of their best players this summer, with the likes of Karim Benzema, N'golo Kante, Edouard Mendy, Ruben Neves, Neymar and Riyad Mahrez joining various clubs in the Gulf State.

Arsenal have had interest from Saudi Arabia in a couple of their players while Liverpool have already lost Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to Al Ittihad and Al Ettifaq respectively.

While the transfer window in Europe slams shut on September 1, clubs in Saudi Arabia can still buy players until September 20.

The rate at which Saudi Arabian clubs are splashing the cash is causing some apprehension in Europe and they are calls for it to be regulated.

Klopp said: "In the past with Russia, long ago thankfully, they had a different transfer window and could still come [after the Premier League deadline].

"It's new, it's challenging for everybody and we have to learn to deal with it. But the authorities should make clear that if you want to be part of the system, do your business at the same time as the others at least."

Pushed on whether the Pro League deadline should fall in line with Europe, Arteta opined: “That is my opinion, yes.

“It is another competitor and it brings other opportunities for players, for managers and for people that work in the industry to decide.

“In the end, we are free to decide when clubs, players or whoever has to agree to something, you have to have the intention to go and find agreements, that is why there are contracts.

“If people agree to go it is because someone agrees to go there but that someone agreed to sell him, so it goes two or three different ways.”
