Juventus CEO Suggests Chelsea-Linked De Ligt Wants To Leave
Chelsea-linked Matthijs De Ligt wants to leave Juventus, according to the club's CEO Maurizio Arrivabene.
De Ligt is approaching his fourth season in Turin, having joined from Ajax Amsterdam in the summer of 2019.
The 22-year-old has not totally been convincing in his performances with the Old Lady but could play a major role next season if he remains at the club following the departure of veteran defender Giorgio Chiellini to Los Angeles FC in America's Major League Soccer.
De Ligt has strongly been linked with a move to Chelsea this summer, with Thomas Tuchel's side looking for replacements for the departed Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.
Arrivabene has acknowledged that De Ligt wants to explore a new challenge following one Serie A title win in his debut season and two subsequent fourth-placed finishes but Juventus' valuation for the Dutchman must first be met.
"De Ligt? Today it is impossible to keep a player who wants to leave," Arrivabene told Tuttosport.
"But it is always a question of numbers, it is not that if one wants to go away you answer, 'Please, take a seat.'
"It is difficult to keep a player, but from the negotiation table all three have to get up satisfied."
De Ligt has made 117 appearances across all competitions for Juventus in his time at the club, scoring eight goals.
