Guardiola Confident Of Successful City Season Despite Early Struggles

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is confident his side will have a successful 2020/2021 season despite struggling domestically in the early stages of the campaign.

Guardiola Confident Of Successful City Season Despite Early Struggles

Last weekend’s 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspurs has left the Citizens in 13th place on the Premier League table, with just three wins from eight attempts.

City have also found goal scoring hard to come by, having found the back of the net just 10 times in their eight league games so far.

Their European form has been in sharp contrast to their domestic exertions as a win over Olympiacos in the Champions League on Wednesday will see them book a place in the knockout stages of the competition. Man City have already won their opening three games in the competition, scoring nine goals and conceding just one.

"I had a feeling we would do really well this season. I don't know why [we haven't],” Guardiola, who signed a new two-year contract last week, said ahead of the game in Greece.

"From the beginning, I expected a reaction after how we finished the last season against Lyon in Portugal. I have a good feeling.

"We know what we have to do. We are a team who last season scored a lot and now we are struggling.

"I have to find a solution, to find the right way to attack more fluently and have the feeling that we can score goals. But in the way we play, I'm quite good, quite happy.

"There are little details still we have to improve, conceding penalties that are unnecessary, sometimes we miss clear chances we have to score.

"But the moment will break. In one or two games, this kind of thing will get better. The season is still so young and I'm fully optimistic we're going to do a good season."
