Caicedo's Agent Fears Chance For Big-Money Move Might Not Come Around Again

Caicedo was the subject of rejected bids by Brighton and Hove Albion from Arsenal and Chelsea during the January transfer window.

The highest was a £70m bid from the Gunners during the final days of the window.

Chelsea ultimately signed Enzo Fernandez for a British record transfer fee from Benfica while Arsenal turned their attention to sign Jorginho from the Blues.

Caicedo released a statement pleading with Brighton to let him go as bids were turned down but they fell on deaf ears and the Ecuadorian will remain at the AMEX Stadium until at least the end of this season.

The 21-year-old is back training with Brighton after being given some time off to clear his head but his agent Manuel Sierra is not too sure his client will command a bigger transfer fee in future.

He told Marca90: "The offers were received, you see what was on the table and Moises said he wanted to move forward [in his career], that it is the dream of his whole life, and an opportunity that may not be repeated in life.

"We then helped draft the statement [on social media].

"In that statement, he expressed his wish and his gratitude to the club because they gave him the chance to fulfil his dream of playing in the Premier League.

"We didn't know what would happen tomorrow, maybe he trains and gets injured. We can't know what's going to happen."

Caicedo has only made 26 Premier League appearances since joining Brighton from Independiente del Valle in 2021.

Caicedo starred for Ecuador at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, scoring once in the tournament.
