Braithwaite Has ‘No Intention’ Of Leaving Barcelona
Denmark forward Martin Braithwaite has insisted he has no intention of leaving Barcelona and he is ready to make the most of his time at Camp Nou.
Braithwaite signed for Barcelona from Leganes in February after the Spanish champions were granted an emergency exception to sign him outside of a transfer window because Ousmane Dembele was ruled out for six months after surgery to treat a ruptured hamstring.
Despite many suggesting that the signing of the 28-year-old is just a short-term move due to the Catalans’ paucity of attacking options, Braithwaite has revealed he does not see the move as a flash in the pan and insists he is planning to stay beyond his current deal.
“I am sure I am going to stay even more than four-and-a-half years that’s how I see it in my head,” the former Toulouse man told ESPN.
“Right now, I just want to go and play and enjoy and win titles with this team because that’s what I am here to do.”
“For me, at Barcelona, one of the goals is to be able to say I played in one of the best Barca teams in a generation.”
“I want people to be able to look back at the team I played in and say yeah, that was one of the best teams there have been in Barca’s history.”
“That’s a huge motivation for me and it comes with a lot of hard work, but I am willing to put in the work. I am just excited.”
