Silva Demands Consistency From Yerry Mina

Everton manager Marco Silva has asked Colombian centre-back Yerry Mina to be more consistent in training if he is to secure more playing time with the Toffees.

Mina joined Everton from Barcelona for a fee of £28.5m at the beginning of the season after a superb outing for Colombia at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia where he scored three goals.

However, injury problems and bad form has seen him make just 11 Premier League appearances for Everton all season.

Everton host Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday, and with first choice centre-back Kurt Zouma, who is on-loan from Chelsea, unavailable to face his parent club, and club captain Phil Jagielka out through injury, Yerry Mina could get the chance to partner Michael Keane at the back.

Mina made his Everton debut in an impressive 0-0 draw against Chelsea in November at Stamford Bridge, and a repeat performance on Sunday will definitely please his manager but Silva wants the Colombian to show more consistency.

The Portuguese said: "What I ask to see from him is more consistency at Finch Farm. The first thing I hope is to see Yerry Mina working every day until the end of the season.

"His first season in the Premier League is completely different to everything that he had in his career playing in Colombia and after in Brazil and after in one club like Barcelona.

"Everything is completely different with what is happening in the Premier League.

"But he can get to be a really important player for us. We believe in him and we spent the money on him because we believed in that moment he could be a very good solution for us.

"He has to adapt as soon as possible, as fast as possible to this competition, to the big challenges he will have every single match.

"But he has to be more consistent here and he has to have some luck (with injuries)."
