Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo says he will not comment about the Ballon d'Or after leading Portugal to the UEFA Nations League trophy on Sunday.

Ronaldo who returned to the national team after taking a sabbatical leave from the side after the 2018 World Cup in Russia scored a hat-trick against Switzerland in the semi-final for Portugal to book a date with Netherlands in the final.

The former Manchester United player was named the top scorer of the competition with three goals to his name.

Ronaldo had an impressive season with Juventus having won their eighth consecutive Serie A title as he also won the Serie A Player of the Season accolade.

Upon all the glories, Ronaldo seems to be far from winning the Ballon d'Or award with his competitor Lionel Messi tipped as the favourite by many pundits.

But the former Real Madrid goal poacher after the victory against the Netherlands at the Estadio do Dragao told the media he will not comment on the award when asked if he sees himself as the potential winner for the recognition.

"No, I will not speak about the Ballon d'Or".

"I'm very happy. It's a very important trophy for all of Portugal and for the national team. Since 2016, Portugal has changed their history and won a trophy again.

"The goal for the match was to win and to play well." The 34-year-old digressed, "For sure, this national team will be even better and the younger players will play more."

Ronaldo scored 21 goals in thirty-one Serie A games with eight assists while his nine Champions League appearances recorded six goals.
