Real Madrid Make Solari Permanent Manager
By Joshua Walters
Real Madrid have confirmed Santiago Solari as a permanent first-team coach, following his impressive run after succeeding Julen Lopetegui last month.
The Madrid second team coach was put in interim charge after Los Blancos sacked Lopetegui over the latter's poor run, and a 5-1 defeat to eternal rivals, Barcelona in the El Clasico.
Solari has proven himself with wins against Melilla in the Copa Del Rey, Valladolid and Celta Vigo in the La Liga and Viktoria Plazen in the Champions League.
Solari had led Real Madrid to score fifteen goals in four outings, and for his reward, gets a two-and-a-half year contract by the Bernabeu club.
The European Champions were forced to take the decision on the Solari after the club exhausted the mandatory two weeks period allowed by Spanish rule for the engagement of interim managers.
The new contract for the former player of the club runs until June 2021, and would have him lead the technical bench throughout this the 2018/19 campaign and the following two seasons.
