Ozil Reveals Best Football Moment
By Joshua Walters
Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has revealed his best moment in football as he points to the World Cup glory in 2014 as the greatest time of his career.
The former Werder Bremen player believes it is a great pleasure for every player to win the World Cup and he adding his name to the lucky list makes him glows anytime he recalls that moment.
Ozil is among the most decorated footballers in the world, having won one Bundesliga title, one LaLiga, one Copa Del Rey, some Supercopa de Espana, three FA Cups, the UEFA u21 Euros, and a World Cup.
Ozil has won the German national Player of the Year award on five occasions in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016, and has also made the UEFA Team of the Year, Euro Team of the Year, been part of the FIFA Pro World XI for four times, won the Laureus Media Award, and Arsenal's Player of the Season and others.
Among all the individual and team awards, there is one that gladens the heart of the former Die Mannschaft player, and that, he says, is the World Cup, a trophy which he hopes every footballer would experience.
“Best moment? “Well, there have been so many – winning trophies in Germany, Spain and the FA Cups here, they are all special. Also with the national team Under-215 when we won the European Championships.
“But of course, it has to be winning the World Cup in 2014. I just cannot explain it.
“When you hold that gold trophy – and it’s so heavy!
The 29-year-old played ninety-two times for the German national team, scoring 23 and assisting in 40 goals for the side before retiring in 2018 after the team's embarrassing elimination in the group stage of the 2018 World Cup.
Ozil joined Arsenal form Spanish giants Real Madrid in 2013 for an undisclosed fee which is said to be in the region of £42.5 million (€50 million) for a five-year deal, having played 18 Premier League games, scoring four goals and providing two assists aside from featuring six times in the Europa League with just a goal this season.
