Liverpool put three unanswered goals past Bournemouth on Saturday at Anfield as the Reds got back to winning ways following two successive Premier League draws to move above Manchester City on the table.
Sadio Mane,Gini Wijnaldum and Mohamed Salah all found the back of the net in a dominant display that takes Liverpool three points above Manchester City who face Chelsea at the Etihad stadium on Sunday.
Ryan Fraser forced Alisson into an important diving save with just over a minute on the clock as Bournemouth made a bright start to the game.
Anfield nerves were calmed on 24 minutes as Sadio Mane got ahead of Dan Gosling to meet James Milner’s cross and plant a header past Artur Boruc for his fourth Premier League goals in four games.
Georginio Wijnaldum gorgeously put Liverpool further ahead in the 34th minute after the Dutchman latched onto a bouncing ball inside the Bournemouth penalty area, took one touch, before lifting it over Artur Boruc into the net.
Liverpool put clear daylight between themselves and the Cherries as Firminio’s clever back-heel set up Mohamed Salah to curl the ball low past the goalkeeper for his 17th Premier League goal of the season three minutes after half-time.
The Reds could have had a fourth goal later on but Salah’s effort from an exquisite Firmino reverse pass came off the cross bar.
