Liverpool Go Top Of EPL Table After Arsenal Draw

By Joshua Walters

James Milner and Alexandre Lacazette canceled each other out as Arsenal came from behind to draw 1-1 with Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

The result puts Liverpool on top of the Premier League table with 27 points, but their stay could be temporary as they are followed by champions, Manchester City, who have 26 points ahead of their trip to Southampton on Sunday.

Somehow, an end-to-end first half ended goalless though both ends managed to score, with Liverpool's Sadio Mane and Arsenal's Lacazette seeing their efforts disallowed for offside.

Goalkeeper, Alisson Becker, was forced into action in the 4th minute to thwart Alexandre Lacazette’s efforts when the Arsenal striker latched on to a pass and unleashed a shot towards the bottom left corner.

Granit Xhaka produced a ferocious strike from the edge of the box in the 30th minute, but his dangerous effort towards the bottom right corner was blocked to safety by the Liverpool Brazilian goalkeeper.

Virgil Van Dijk climbed higher than the Arsenal defenders, inside the penalty box, and planted a towering header against the left post.

And, James Milner picked up the ball from a rebound and unleashed a low shot into the bottom left corner from the edge of the box he, which Bernd Leno was unable to keep out.

Virgil Van Dijk peeled away from his marker and got on the end of a resulting corner, but his fine header towards the underside of the crossbar was perfectly saved by the goalkeeper.

Alexandre Lacazette took a great first touch to control a killer pass on the edge of the box in the 82nd minute and curled the ball inside the right post in a trademark fashion to secure a deserving draw for Arsenal.
