Juventus Improve Bid For De Ligt
By Joshua Walters
A report by Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf on Saturday says Juventus have offered Ajax €70 million for Matthijs de Ligt.
The Italian giants are also said to have presented a salary of between €15 to €20 million a season to the centre back.
With such an improved bid for the player Juventus now lead the race for the services of the 19-year-old.
The Dutch newspaper reported that French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain could end their pursuit for the hotcake defender after the Italian club increased their bid for him.
It is also believed that PSG have tried to finialise the player's transfer to the Ligue 1 as they have shown luxury flats in the capital to the defender’s partner as a way for her to lure him to join the side.
De Ligt's impressive run with Ajax last season has attracted a lot of interests from top European clubs with Juventus said to be the possible destination for the player.
Having played a pivotal role in Ajax's run to the Eredivisie title De Ligt recorded three goals in thirty-three league games with one assist and three goals in the Champions League.
It is said that aside the advances made by PSG, one major reason why the player could end up at Juventus is the kind of relationship his agent Mino Raiola has with the club.
Cristiano Ronaldo seems to be playing a major role in the process as he asked De Ligt after the UEFA Nations League final against Netherlands if he would join him at the Serie A champions.
