Gareth Bale In Trouble With Spanish Tax Authorities
By Joshua Walters
Spanish tax authorities have reportedly fined Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale €337,000 for tax invasion.
The Wales national team captain is allegedly under-declaring his image rights since he arrived at Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspurs in from 2013.
The tax authorities are demanding €200,000 in unpaid taxes, €100,000 in fines and €37,000 in interest.
Bale, therefore, becomes the latest Spain-based footballer to be chased by the country's tax authorities after former teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo; current teammates, Marcelo and Luka Modric; former Barcelona players, Alexis Sanchez and Javier Mascherano and many others.
