David Luiz: We Can Win The Premier League
By Joshua Walters
Chelsea defender David Luiz has warned their title rival clubs and football pundits not to write them off from the Premier League title.
Maurizio Sarri’s Blues dropped on the pegging order to 3rd after losing to Wolverhampton Wanderers on matchday 15 but bounced back from the defeat with a 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend.
With Liverpool still unbeaten after 18 games and occupying the top spot with 48 points above defending champions, Manchester City, who have 44 points after 17 games, the bookmakers are tipping a close contest between the Reds and the Citizens, leaving Chelsea out of the contention board.
Luiz has, however, acknowledged that his side has a hurdle to climb trying to catch the two leading clubs, but stressed Sarri is guiding them on how to dislodge them, adding that the target is possible because the season is still young.
"Of course the boss tries to give us the maths and to give us one direction to follow and we trying to get the points to be there and fighting for the title not just for the top four."
"Of course we lost some points and it could be better for us at the moment, but everybody knows that in this league, everybody can win against everybody."
Chelsea have a crunch game against Leicester City on Saturday afternoon and whereas Luiz admitted that it is touch test, the Brazilian centre-back had high hopes of coming out successfully to keep up with their title ambitions.
"It's not my first Premier League [season] so I know anything can happen and that it is possible for us to win the league. Everton are a good side but we believe in ourselves, know the situation we are in and what to do to hit our target."
