Alba Equals Madrid Win To Champions League Glory

Jordi Alba has disclosed that Barcelona beating Real Madrid comes with the same excitement as winning the Champions League.

The left-wing-back played one of his best games in Barcelona shirt on Sunday as the Catalan giants humiliated sworn rivals Madrid 5-1 in a La Liga clash at the Camp Nou.

Alba assisted Philippe Coutinho to grab Barcelona’s opener and played a key part in the defenders preventing the European Champions from drawing parity when they were put under siege in the early minutes of the second half.

“To beat Real Madrid is a similar feeling to winning the Champions League,” Alba said after the game.

“I celebrated the goals a lot because they mean a lot to me, and especially the third because we had to suffer a lot in the first period of the second half.

“I am really happy with my performances and everything else in my life, I feel like this is a really good time for me.”

Barcelona played without their influential captain, Lionel Messi, who is out with an injury, and Alba was glad the side has seen through two difficult games without the talisman.

“Lionel Messi? We will always miss him of course, but we have beaten Inter and Madrid without him, but we want him back on the pitch.”
