Manchester United defender Harry Maguire believes the club is well equipped to break into the top four this season.

The Red Devils have claimed priceless back-to-back victories over Tottenham Hotspurs and champions Manchester City in the past week, taking them fifth on the table, five points behind fourth placed Chelsea.

United could only secure Europa League football with their sixth placed finish last season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men initially struggled to score goals at the beginning of the season but have started finding the back of the net with increasing regularity in recent weeks.

Marcus Rashford’s form has been particularly devastating, with his strike from the penalty spot against the champions matching his best ever tally in a league season of 10.

Anthony Martial and Daniel James were equally impressive at the Etihad, and Maguire, who joined from Leicester City in the summer, is backing United’s front three to take them all the way.

"I think you need to look after your own results, don't look elsewhere, keep winning games," Maguire told Sky Sports. "We've won back-to-back games against Spurs and City. We've got another big game next week now.

"The top four is in sight but we just keep looking after our own results, keep trying to get the three points and keep improving.

"Over the last month or so, I feel like as a defender I look at the forwards and think they're going to score goals.

"At the start of the season, we didn't really score more than one goal in a game but now I think it's a few games on the spin where we're back to scoring goals.

"They're a big threat, they're top players, great talent and I think it's all coming together now."

United face Everton in their next Premier League game at home on Sunday.
