klopp backs solskjaer for permanent United job

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has backed Manchester United’s caretaker manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, for the Red Devils’ permanent job.

Klopp believes the Norwegian trainer has done enough to prove his merit for the Red Devils job, saying that the Manchester United treble winning player deserves the job 100 percent.

"He's in charge and there is no doubt that he will be the manager next year as well, that's clear”, said the Liverpool manager ahead of this weekend’s epic clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford."

Solskjaer has won 11 of his 13 fixtures since taking interim charge of the club following Jose Mourinho's sacking in mid-December, with the only blemish a 2-0 defeat to Paris St Germain in the Champions League.

"Can you imagine one situation when they say 'we are bringing in another manager'? Then a new manager will lose one game and that's not possible."

"He deserves (the job) 100 percent, he did everything that you have to do to be successful with them."

Manchester United clash with their old foes at Old Trafford on Saturday, and Klopp revealed the ins and outs of his side ahead of the rivalry clash.

Virgil Van Dijk will return from European suspension as Liverpool travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United in the north-west derby.

The centre-back sat out the goalless Champions League draw with Bayern Munich in midweek but returns to bolster a back-line missing Dejan Lovren due to a hamstring injury and Joe Gomez who currently is nursing a broken leg.

Both Rhian Brewster and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are both making progress after long-term injuries but neither is in contention to return this weekend.
