Juventus Warned Super League Involvement Could Lead To Serie A Expulsion
Juventus have been warned that they face being demoted from the Italian Serie A next season if they do not withdraw from the European Super League.
The European Super League gained momentum last month as 12 of Europe’s most powerful clubs threatened a breakaway competition to rival the UEFA Champions League.
However, those plans unfolded spectacularly within 48 hours as widespread backlash led to the withdrawal of the Premier League’s ‘big six’ and the likes of Inter Milan, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid soon followed.
Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus are yet to officially announce their intentions to discontinue with the plans and the Bianconeri have been cautioned by president of the Italian Football Federation, Gabriele Gravina, that the consequences could be dire.
"The rules are clear. If Juventus is still part of the Super League when it enters next season, it can't participate in Serie A,” Gravina told Radio Kiss Kiss.
"I would be sorry for the fans but rules are rules and they apply to everyone.
"I hope this holdout ends soon."
Juventus have lost their Serie A title to Inter Milan this season while their current league position of 5th will not be enough to secure Champions League football next season, with just three games to go.
