Buffon To Leave Juventus At End Of Season

Gianluigi Buffon has announced that he will be leaving Juventus for a second time at the end of this season.

Buffon To Leave Juventus At End Of Season

Buffon has largely played as a deputy to Wojciech Szczesny since returning from a one-year spell with Paris Saint Germain in the summer of 2019.

The 43-year-old initially joined Juventus from Parma in 2001 and has won ten Scudetto titles and four Coppa Italia trophies across his two spells with the club.

Buffon has made 12 appearances in all competitions this season for the Old Lady but in an underwhelming campaign in Andrea Pirlo’s first season in charge, Juventus were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by FC Porto in the round of 16 stage and have lost their Serie A crown to Inter Milan.

The 2006 FIFA World Cup winner is however undecided as to whether he will be calling time on his playing career.

"My future is clear and defined. This beautiful and very long experience with Juve will come to a definitive end this year," Buffon told beIN Sports.

"Either I stop playing, or if I find a situation that motivates me to play or have a different life experience, I will take it into consideration.

"I feel I gave everything for Juve. I have received everything and more than this cannot be done.

“We have reached the end of a cycle and it’s right for one to remove the disturbance.”
