Lewandowski scored one and provided two assists to help the Bavarian giants put Frank Lampard’s men to the sword – he now leads the Champions League scoring chart with 11 goals.

The Poland international is in fine form, having scored 39 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga leaders this season.

Messi and Ronaldo are considered the two current best footballers in the world, having shared eleven Ballon d’Ors between them out of a possible twelve since 2008.

Alaba feels Lewandowski is a world-class player and he should be mentioned in the same breath as the Argentine and the Portuguese.

“He is a world-class player and a world-class striker,” the 27-year-old said as per the Guardian.

“We all know that he can score goals and he showed it against Chelsea, another side of himself by putting assists.”

“We know he is very important to us and we are grateful to have him in our squad. He shows it every weekend, I guess.”

“He’s one of the best, and maybe the best, striker in the world. He scores goals in almost every game.

“I think he deserves to be at the top and spoken about with those guys [Messi and Ronaldo].”
