Stones: I am ready to Fight For A Place At Man City

Manchester City defender John Stones has insisted he is ever ready to compete for a place in the first team for the upcoming season.

The centre-back position at the club seems to be the most competitive spot in the squad with the players for that department enjoying a rotation exercise and the former Everton player is confident of cementing a place in that field.

“I took some time away in my holidays and reflected," Stones told reporters. "I've come back this season fighting for my chance to play again and put that right.

"I'm sure I will because I've got that strong mindset of putting things right and being honest when you've done something wrong.

"The last two months were frustrating, but any player not playing is frustrated. You have to respect the manager.

“I wanted to come on and try to affect any game that I could when I came on, however many minutes I got.

"It's about the team and not about John Stones or whoever else. That's why we won four trophies last season."

Stones, in last season, started just 20 times for Pep Guardiola’s side as they defended their Premier League title and also enjoyed a treble triumph.

With the 2019/20 season edging closer, the 25-year-old can’t wait to fight for a place in the team.
