Robben Announces Bayern Munich Departure

Dutch winger Arjen Robben has confirmed he will leave Bayern Munich at the end of this season.

The former Chelsea winger has spent a decade at the Bavarian giants after arriving from Real Madrid in the summer of 2009.

The left-footed player has helped them to numerous titles, including seven Bundesligas and four DFB-Pokals.

Robben has made a total of 198 appearances in the Deutsche elite division and scored 98 times.

The 34-year-old has been tormented by troubling knee injuries in recent seasons, which has seen him start just seven out of 13 league games this campaign.

Robben missed a crucial penalty for Bayern Munich in the extra time of their 2012 Champions League final defeat to Chelsea but redeemed himself a year later by scoring the winner as Bavarians beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the 2013 Champions League final.

Speaking to Omnisport during an official fan club visit, Robben said: "It's my last year at Bayern. It has been 10 beautiful years. But it's time [to leave] now."
