Man United Offer Long-Term Deal To Martial

Skysports have reported that Manchester United has tabled a new long-term contract extension to Anthony Martial.

The French international joined Man United in 2015 on a contract that would expire at the end of next season.

But, the Old Trafford outfit, according to Sky sources, is looking to get the versatile offensive player to commit his future to the club despite reports that he wants to leave.

Martial cost Man United for a fee that rose to £57.6 million from French side AS Monaco, but has struggled to hold down a permanent place in Jose Mourinho’s starting-XI.

He was omitted from Didier Deschamps' squad that won the 2018 World Cup, and has been the subject of transfer speculations and a rift between himself and Jose Mourinho this summer.

Martial reportedly tendered in a transfer request, this summer, which was agreed to by Jose Mourinho but turned by the Man United Chairman, Ed Woodward.

Though Martial remained at the club, his fortunes have not changed much as he has featured only once in the three opening games of the 2018/19 Premier League season.

Martial was an unused substitute in the Man United's opening day win against Leicester City, played in the 3-2 defeat at Brighton and was left out of the squad in the 3-0 home loss against Tottenham on match-day 3.

The development has given rise to speculations that the club may have defied Jose Mourinho's orders with the presentation of the new deal to the player.
