Bayern Munich have confirmed Colombian midfielder, James Rodriguez, is set for a considerable amount of time on the sidelines after sustaining a knee injury at training.

A club statement on Wednesday said that the player has suffered a partial tear of his lateral collateral ligament in his left knee and would be missing in action for the rest of 2018.

The 27-year-old has made eight Bundesliga appearances for the Bavarians this season, scoring three goals, but was an unused substitute when Bayern Munich lost 3-2 to Borussia Dortmund last Saturday.

"James' knee will initially be rested for 10 days before he begins treatment and rehabilitation," said the statement.

The former FC Porto and AS Monaco player is in the second part of a two-year loan deal from Real Madrid.
