Mauro Icardi’s wife, Wanda Nara, has revealed how her husband came close to joining Italian champions, Juventus, in the summer.
Icardi’s consistent scoring form has made him one of Europe’s hottest properties, and Nara, who doubles as the player's agent, has revealed that Inter Milan surprisingly offered the Argentine to Juventus in the summer.
But, despite the offer of a bumper pay-day and the prospect of playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at the Allianz Stadium, Icardi chose to remain with Inter who are his topmost priority.
In an appearance on television show Tiki Taka, she said: "In the last market he had a foot outside."
"Inter wanted to send him to Juventus. It was Mauro who refused, to stay at Inter; he refused even more money."
"Juventus tried to convince me he would team up with Ronaldo, and he finally came in. They told me that Icardi would be the only number nine."
Icardi has maintained his high standards this season, netting 13 goals in 19 appearances for the Nerazzurri in all competitions.
