Hazard Scoops Three Honours At Chelsea

Eden Hazard was the biggest winner on the Friday night as the Belgian international took away three honours at the Chelsea Awards Night, including the club’s player of the year.

The 28-year-old Belgian took home the Chelsea Player of the year, which is voted for by the fans, Players’ Player of the year and the Goal of the season award.

The Goal of the season award given to the former Lille attacker was the stunning solo effort against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup at Anfield earlier in the season.

This marks the first time in the club’s history that one individual has taken home all three awards in the same year.

Hazard, who was also nominated for the Professional Footballers Association(PFA) Player of the year but lost out to Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk, has had a phenomenal season for Maurizio Sarri’s men, scoring 19 goals in all competitions and providing 16 assists.

Hazard expressed his gratitude to the Chelsea fans after taking his awards and promised to bring the Europa League trophy back to Stamford Bridge when the Blues face Arsenal in Baku later this month.

‘My relationship with the fans has been really good since I came here,' Hazard said after picking up the Player of the Year award from Maurizio Sarri and Gianfranco Zola at the Royal Lancaster hotel in central London.

'It’s always a pleasure to play at Stamford Bridge in front of the fans. That’s why I am on the pitch. When we play for such a great club like Chelsea at the end of the season you want to win something. Now we have that opportunity. We will go to Baku all together with the fans and we will be back with the trophy.'
