Ed Woodward: Solskjaer Is The Right Man

By Joshua Walters

Manchester United executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward insists the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was never a mistake as he thinks the Norwegian is the right man for the position.

Manchester United enjoyed an upturn in results following the sacking of Jose Mourinho in December, but the side failed to glitter after Solskjaer was handed a permanent deal at the club.

The former Molde trainer lost eight of his final twelve games, collapsing United’s form in the last two months of the season.

Despite the side failing to claim a top-four spot, Ed Wood remains convinced their former player is the right man to steer the club out of their latest crisis as the club is ever prepared to give him the maximum support in the transfer market this summer.

“The strength of our business means we have the financial resources to continue to provide backing for the manager and creating success on the pitch. This has ever remains our number one goal.

"While the last few weeks were disappointing, we are delighted to have confirmed the appointment of Ole as our manager on a three-year contract," said Woodward.

"Everyone at the club - the board, the manager, the squad and all the staff are resolute in our desire to get United back to the top of English football, we continually look to improve staff on and off the pitch to achieve this.

“After a turbulent season, everyone at Manchester United is focused on building towards the success that this great club expects and our fans deserve,” he said. “Preparations for the new season are underway and the underlying strength of our business will allow us to support the manager and his team as we look to the future."
