Brighton Appoint Graham Potter As New Manager

English Premier League side, Brighton and Hove Albion, have moved swiftly to address their vacant managerial position with the appointment of Graham Potter as the club’s new head coach.

Brighton, who narrowly missed relegation by the skin of their teeth after finishing in 17th place on the Premier League log, sacked manager Chris Hughton just a day after the conclusion of the season.

The Seagulls have now turned their attention towards Sky Bet Championship side, Swansea City, to price away their manager, Graham Potter, going into the new season.

Potter only joined Swansea City from Swedish side Ostersunds FK in the summer of 2018 after they were relegated from the Premier League, and despite the exodus key first team players from the Welsh club including Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew and Wilfried Bony, he was able to guide them to a 10th place finish and reach the quarterfinals of the FA Cup where they narrowly lost to Manchester City.

Brighton will pay Swansea City a compensation package of £3m for Potter, who still had two years on his contract, and offer him a four-year deal.

"We believe that Graham is an excellent fit for our club," said Brighton chairman Tony Bloom.

"We are delighted to have secured the services of one of the brightest young English coaches. Graham Potter has an excellent record of developing teams with an attractive playing style, fierce determination and a strong collective spirit.

"We are excited about our third successive season in the Premier League and we now wish to build on the solid foundations laid by Chris Hughton."
