Real Madrid and Spain legend, Iker Casillas, has reportedly been rushed to the hospital after suffering a suspected heart attack at the training grounds of current club, FC Porto.

The incident occurred at a training session on Wednesday, with the club confirming the news on Portuguese TV Station, TVI.

Casillas is reportedly in a stable condition after undergoing surgery, and will now miss the remainder of the season as Porto battle it out with Benfica, who lead them by two points, for the right to be crowned champions of Portugal, with just three league games to play.

Already, Casillas’ colleagues from in and outside the sport have already started sending their well wishes to the legendary goalkeeper.

Tennis star, Rafael Nadal, after hearing the sad news, tweeted: “A huge hug to Iker Casillas right now. Iker Force!”

Diogo Dalot, now of Manchester United, played with Casillas at Porto before joining the Red Devils at the start of the season, also wrote on Twitter: “Stay strong. Will be all right,” alongside the praying hands emoji.

Casillas,37, is widely considered as one of the greatest goalkeepers of his generation.

In 16 years at Real Madrid between 1999 and 2015, Casillas won three UEFA Champions League trophies, five Spanish La Liga titles and two Copa del Reys, amongst numerous other trophies.

Casillas, who holds the record for most appearances in the history of the UEFA Champions League (177), captained Spain to win the European Championships in 2008 and 2012 as well as the FIFA World Cup in 2010.
