Zidane Rules Out Gareth Bale Move To Spurs On Transfer Deadline Day
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has ruled out the possibility of Wales superstar Gareth Bale joining Tottenham Hotspur this month.
Bale’s contract with Real Madrid runs until the summer of 2022 and his agent has recently confirmed that the Welshman will see out the remainder of his contract.
Despite his agent’s comments, the 30-year-old is heavily linked with a return to the Premier League after seven years in Madrid.
The former Southampton man almost left the Spanish capital last summer after a fallout with Zidane, but a reported move to Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning could not materialize.
Bale was also seen celebrating with a banner that reads: "Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order", during Wales’ qualification for Euro 2020, an action that angered Real Madrid’s fans.
Ahead of Los Merengues’ crunch encounter against local rivals Atletico Madrid in La Liga on Saturday, Zidane has revealed Bale is still with the Squad and a move away from Santiago Bernabeu is not imminent.
"Gareth is here with us and I am counting on him. I am not contemplating this possibility,” the French coach told reporters when asked about a possible transfer.
Bale has been derailed with injuries this season and has started just 11 matches for Real Madrid, scoring three times in all competitions.
